The Friends of Bayside High School and Alumni Association held a spectacular event at the high school to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of the exact day the school opened its doors to students and began holding classes. MC’d by Bayside’s own Dave Solano the event incorporated tours of the building , viewing of year books by alumni and a ceremony where proclamations were given to the school by Congresswoman Grace Meng, Senator Tony Avella, Assemblyman Ed Braunstein and Councilman Paul Vallone (in absentia). It was a big day for Bayside High School, that’s for sure. Big enough that it made the cover of the Queens Chronicle with Dave and Senator Avella featured larger than life.
