Join Cassie and Gregg at 9 PM for the next installment of the Bayside, Queens Open Forum.
Tonight’s guest is Linda E P O. She is the lead singer of Nixtaband, a New York City ensemble comprised of musicians with roots based in Mexico, and the US. The band emerged in November of 2017 with the idea of experimenting with jazz and Mexican rhythms. Their dynamic mash up of jazz and Mexican folk music reflect who they are and their boundless energy.
The name Nixtaband is derived from the word Nixtamal: the kernels of corn that are used to create masa. Masa is the main ingredient for many traditional Mexican dishes. In Mexico, masa is the foundation of nutrition for society. “We believe music is the nutrition for the soul.”
It’s gonna be another energetic edition of the Forum, so be sure to tune in at 9 PM EST to get to know Linda and hear some of Nixtaband’s work.
